I have painted for many years. Throughout my career in the music business I have found my creativity through visual art. I went to the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in art and art history -- having switched from the Wharton School (!) I ended up -- after having run a book and record store in Philly -- in the Bay Area where I met Bill Graham and joined Winterland Productions, his concert merchandising business. This intersection of art, music, commerce and celebrity suited me just fine. The industry grew with the times and I've worked in a number situations, from executive in larger companies to running my own business for thirteen years, on such tours as Eric Clapton, Queen, Josh Groban, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and many others.
Throughout this time I painted, mainly oils on canvas, spending more time on it in recent years. I've had shows in the Bay Area, open studios, and now opening this on-line gallery.
My work has a feel of outsider art, art brut. Most of it is figurative, but seldom literal. I love using vibrant colors. Sometimes it can look whimsical, sometimes disturbing. I also love the "aura" of original paintings, including brush strokes and palimpsets, but my digital art features pure color and simple flat design. These can be found on my Prints gallery.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my work.
"Our vanity, our passions, our spirit of imitation, our abstract intelligence, our habits have long been at work, and it is the task of art to undo this work of theirs, making us travel back in the direction from which we have come to the depths where what has really existed lies unknown within us." Marcel Proust
